When teeth are crooked, they can become stained and infected more easily. By straightening them, we can not only improve your appearance, but also decrease your risk of getting cavities and improve your overall oral health. And it’s not just about your teeth — aligning your bite can also address issues that you may have with your jaw. Orthodontics is truly a comprehensive way to address oral health concerns.

Many people want to straighten their teeth, but they don’t want a mouth full of metal. Metal braces are an effective tool for straightening teeth and have been used by orthodontists for decades. The procedure works by placing a metal bracket onto the surface of each tooth and running a wire through those brackets. While the treatment works, it can also negatively impact a persons’ appearance while doing so — it’s impossible not to notice when someone is wearing traditional metal braces. With so many advances in orthodontics, people want a better option. We’re proud to be the premier provider of clear braces throughout the Washington area.

As an elite provider of clear braces, we are delighted to offer our patients an alternative to traditional metal braces. If you’re concerned about how metal braces may impact your appearance, clear braces make it possible to receive the same benefits of straight teeth without having a mouth full of metal in order to do so. In fact, clear braces have revolutionized orthodontics and opened up a world of possibilities for both teens and adults (although it’s not viable for children who need braces.) Not all dentists can effectively offer clear braces, so it is important to work with an experienced expert like Dr. Hines. If you live in or near Washington DC, we invite you to call (202) 723-2400 and schedule a consultation to determine if clear braces are right for you.

Clear Braces vs. Metal Braces

At Premier Dental Care, we offer clear braces for adults and teens living in or near the 20012 area. Whether you have teeth that are entirely crooked, unsightly gaps in between your teeth or a misaligned bite – clear braces can help to correct these issues and more. They work just as effectively as metal braces, but they’re nearly invisible, making them ideal for busy professionals, teens and those that don’t want straightening their teeth to negatively impact their current appearance.

Patients can choose from several types of clear braces. One operates similarly to traditional braces where a bracket is placed onto each tooth with a wire threaded between them. Instead of metal, however, the brackets are made out of tooth-colored resin that blends in with the natural tooth. The wire is also tooth-colored, rendering the braces virtually invisible and difficult to see. The brackets can become stained, however, so we recommend this solution for adults who are able to spend time keeping their braces perfectly clean. This solution is an excellent alternative to traditional braces and is just as effective at addressing all orthodontic concerns.

Clear braces also come in the form of aligners, which look like a full retainer that surrounds the teeth and can be worn on the upper and lower teeth. Aligners are more convenient to wear than metal braces because they come out. This can be a huge advantage if, for example, you get braces but don’t want to have them on for important pictures or big work presentations — these are real anxieties that leaves many adults apprehensive about committing to a two-year treatment plan.

That said, we also understand that appearance is important for more than vanity. It impacts your ability to create a professional image and retain your own self-image. As a Washington provider of clear braces, we ensure that you won’t have to compromise your appearance or lifestyle while straightening teeth — aligners are a key part of that.

Beyond being able to take your aligners out for pictures, it can be a relief just to give your mouth a rest. They are supposed to be worn for around 22 hours a day and need to be removed while eating and brushing teeth, which means there’s no need to adjust what you eat or worry about getting food stuck in the brackets. Aligners can also be removed while making that big presentation, having family pictures taken, getting married or any other special event where braces aren’t ideal.

Life is meant to be lived, and wearing clear braces lets you enjoy life as usual.. If you are interested in learning more about the process, we invite you to call (202) 723-2400 and schedule an appointment with our Washington office.

Clear Braces for Teens and Adults

Many patients are unaware that teens and adults can typically benefit from similar treatment options, but as an expert in clear braces, we treat both age groups. Though not exactly the same, teens typically have reached their adult jaw size and have a full set of adult teeth — this is why we can provide the option for them, but not for younger children. The main difference between clear braces for teens and adult braces is that teens may need to use their aligners for a longer period of time. This is because, with such busy schedules, we expect teens to remove their aligners more frequently to do things like play sports.

At Premier Dental Care, we are pleased to provide patients throughout Washington with a more convenient way to straighten their teeth. To find out if clear braces are right for you, call (202) 723-2400.
